Julie started flying in 1981 with the Kent Gliding Club and holds the Gliding Gold Badge with 1 Diamond, she became an instructor in 1987. Gaining her PPL in November 1999 and her Display Authorisation in April 2003, she is also a Glider Tug pilot.

Julie’s husband Alan, is also a gliding instructor and a member of the Tiger Club Display Team. They are the first married couple to fly with the Tiger Club Turbulent Display Team.

They regularly take their glider abroad for cross-country and mountain flying in Spain and own a share in a vintage Cessna 120 based at Headcorn.
